Have you sent a press release to announce your funding?

Sharing news about funding can be a great reason to send a press release

If your business has received a new funding stream, it is time to celebrate and share the news.

There are many types of news that journalists are interested in writing about, and new funding is one of them. It is often overlooked as shareable news, but it draws attention to your business, and shows that it is seen as a worthy company by your funders.

4 Tips for Sending a Press Release to Announce Funding

These tips to include when writing a press release will help boost your profile.

1. Don’t just say that you’ve received funding:

It’s easy to write a basic press release announcing that your business has received funding after a successful investment round or crowdfunding campaign, but if you want it to be truly newsworthy then you need to give more information to engage readers. Let people know what you are doing with that extra funding.

If you have developed a revolutionary new product that will take the market by storm, tell people why.

If you are using the funds to grow your team, or move to another location, share why this will benefit the consumer.

2. Make sure investors are happy to be quoted:

It always enhances a press release if it contains quotes from your investors, but always, always check that they are happy to be quoted. Some investors like to stay incognito, so may not want to be quoted or referenced to by name in your press release.

3. Highlight previous achievements:

It has been shown that press releases that refer to successful funding do get more clicks, so why not use that to your advantage and highlight some of the other great things that your company has achieved.

Remember to relate your story to the funding, so include comments such as how you can achieve even more with the new funding, or how investor confidence has allowed your company to grow your original idea.

4. Make sure your headline is snappy and sums up your point

Think of your headline as the hook that snares a fish, the headline and the image are the first things that journalists see, so make sure it is memorable, and that it mentions the funding.
