With the rise of social media and blogs it is important to build relationships with bloggers, vloggers and influencers. However, many small business owners often struggle with how to find the right one for their business and make the initial contact.

Below we’ve listed three smart and simple ways to establish contact.

Social Media

Bloggers, vloggers and influencers are very active on social media, whether this is Twitter, Instagram or YouTube, it is a great place to first connect. Engage with them by following and subscribing to their channels, as well as sharing and commenting on their content. Create conversations, discussions and add humour. This way they’re more likely to remember you and be more open to discussing opportunities.

Many bloggers will also have newsletters, by signing up you will be able to keep an eye on their latest content. It may seem obvious to say but you need to actually read or watch what they release to begin to understand the type of businesses they work with and how your brand can fit in.

Instagram can be very useful when understanding if your businesses will fit a bloggers or influencers brand as they will maintain a certain style throughout the feed. With Twitter you can start to understand their interests through the topics they discuss, articles they share and places they visit. It is important to understand how you can use each platform.

Email

Sending a quick introductory email is an easy way to establish contact. It is important to remember that bloggers, vloggers and influencers are open to discussing the type of content shared on their site as long as it’s relevant, so you can approach them with ideas.

The initial email doesn’t need to be very long- just simply explain your business and why you think it would be valuable to work together. It is beneficial to mention previous engagement on social media or content you’ve found particularly interesting. By showing them you’ve invested time in finding out about them and reading their content they will be more inclined to talk to you.

For example, ask to meet them for a coffee or if you’ve seen through their social media they’re a fan of green juices suggest a new place you think they’d be interested in visiting. This way you can discuss how you could work together face-to-face.

Furthermore, offer to send them a sample of your product or a trial of your service. This way they will be able to decide if they like your business and decide if they would be interested in working with you.

Events

Whether exhibiting at events such as BloggersXmas hosted by Soeurs De Luxe or holding your own launch event, they are a great way to meet bloggers, vloggers and influencers. They give you the opportunity to make new connections whilst also maintaining existing relationships.

It gives the blogger, vlogger or influencer a chance to see your product or service first hand and ask you any questions they may have. Additionally, they will also have the chance to meet you as the business owner and find out further information about the businesses history.

In addition, hosting an exciting and interesting event will make your businesses more memorable meaning they will be more willing to write a review about your event and brand.
