Yorkshire’s largest independent vehicle-hire firm celebrates 10 years in Barnsley
Yorkshire’s largest independent vehicle-hire firm is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of its Barnsley depot.
Arrow Self Drive opened its Barnsley depot in April 2008, following success in several other Yorkshire depots.
The local celebration comes as the firm celebrates 30 years since beginning in Huddersfield.
Barnsley depot manager, Louise Ramsbottom, is also celebrating having managed the Barnsley premises since opening 10 years ago.
Having joined the company as a part-time rental assistant at the Wakefield depot in September 2007, Louise was promoted to depot manager at the new Barnsley depot the following year. The depot later moved to the existing site at Wakefield Road Industrial Estate in 2009.
Founded in 1988 by businessmen Robert Hill and Chris Taylor, Arrow Self Drive has grown to become Yorkshire’s largest independent vehicle hire firm, with a fleet of more than 2,000 rental vehicles and more than 80 staff across the region.
Arrow Self Drive is celebrating its 30th year in business this year, and will be hosting a range of events and charity fundraisers to commemorate the occasion.

Commenting on her role at the Barnsley depot, Louise Ramsbottom said:
“Over the years we have won and retained a fantastic portfolio of customers, mostly from the business community. We keep it very local here at Arrow Self Drive, my team are all from the local area, I am a Barnsley girl myself, even our directors are from Barnsley, and we have excellent relationships with our many loyal customers from the local area.
“Ten years has flown by. I hope that the next ten years is as enjoyable and that we can continue to deliver excellent service with a straight forward Yorkshire approach well into the future.”
