Winning Recognition - Women In Construction KWIB Awards 2017 & Prologis UK Promote Diligence!

Winner of 'Women In Construction' at the Kent Women In Business Awards was certainly the highlight of this amazing week at Diligence (PM) Services Ltd.

Our Project Management Consultancy had already been spotted by Prologis (the UK's leading developer and owner of logistics property), in part due to being a tenant in their Serviced Offices at The Nucleus, Dartford and in part through the amazing journey and focus of Nicola to ensure that Diligence takes part in a very exciting North Kent Project. So, after an interview and photography, we are pleased to promote our story within the Community section of the Prologis website:

So, what is Diligence working on that has helped with recognition and a journey to success? It is none other than the Ebbsfleet Garden City project.

Garden City is the largest regeneration project in the country first of all. "There’s not many come close to us and hard to argue we’re not up there with the largest" says Mark Templeton, Head of Communications at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.

The main focus of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) and one of the main reasons it was set up was to provide 'ahead of need' infrastructure investment (including electricity, potable and waste water, gas and IT connectivity). Until the creation of the EDC developers were unable to progress on site because of the lack of utilities which would have made their developments prohibitive. As Interim Utilities Project Manager, Nicola's focus on work in this area is absolutely crucial to the success of the EDC and Ebbsfleet Garden City as whole. The work is so pivotal that it constantly has the eyes of Senior Ministers on it.

Diligence is proud to be a part of regeneration in the South East of England and it is fair to say that Nicola is leading talks at the highest possible level with utility providers in order to ensure the Garden City’s utilities are a priority and will lead to a unique programme of work being carried out which would be a first for the UK.

So what next? Well with Women In Construction a hot topic and proven Project Management at such a high level, the next steps are to ensure that the future of Diligence is successful. Already booked in for a few speaking spots at Conferences, we also have our eye on more projects in London and Kent, with excellent Project Support Officers and Project Managers targeted to fulfil those roles.

"Our ultimate goal is to have a trust within the company enabling Diligence to become an Employee Owned Business and a legacy for the areas we serve." explains Nicola, "We are not an agency, we employee and offer security and commitment to our people, and as such our employees commit to our culture and this is then part of the service we offer to our customers. As part of British Values we encourage all to develop themselves and are keen to promote infrastructure, construction and engineering to the new generation as well as those wanting to change career or even return to work after retirement! Of course, we need the projects too!"

About Diligence (PM) Services Ltd

Nicola Coppen founded Diligence in April 2014, with the first contract being for the provision of Infrastructure Project Management for Thames Water – an early milestone for the company and in April 2016, she decided the time was right to begin expansion for the company into a larger consultancy. In October 2016, it was announced that she was a Finalist in The Great British Entrepreneur Awards, supported by NatWest. Diligence is a people-led consultancy, providing proven Project Managers, incorporating the need to encourage local employment and develop Project Managers of the future. As a word synonymous with Nicola’s aptitude, given to her by those she worked with, ‘Diligence’ was the obvious company name and therefore we have to consider ‘diligence’ in all we do. Nicola’s aspiration is to provide Project Management to the various Construction and Infrastructure projects in the southeast and London, employing more Project Managers to deliver the high profile projects in our pipeline. Diligence employees will be a mix of experienced people, supported by younger trainees and apprentices (as a business mentor to a local Academy, Nicola is well placed to find our future Project Managers). Their success will be rewarded when the business becomes an Employee Owned Business in the future.
