Trade Association Forum's TA Best Practice Exchange Hailed a Great Success
As the United Kingdom considers its position in the wake of the EU Referendum earlier this year and the subsequent EU ruling last week, The Trade Association is delighted to see one of the best attended events in our calendar with the annual TA Best Practice Exchange which took place on Thursday, 3rd November 2016 in London. The Brexit theme ran through the day, with excellent keynote speakers from Government and across the political spectrum providing their advice and insight into the current business landscape and giving a call to arms for all members of the Trade Association Forum to fully engage with the Government to help them make the necessary decisions on the areas on which to focus on.
A presentation given by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) emphasised the importance of trade associations in supporting their members as UK business adapts to its new role at home and overseas. “A growing, engaged and energetic TAF could play a vital role in ensuring that TAs are equipped with the capabilities to work effectively with Government to get the best outcomes for their sectors from Brexit and key economic policy priorities such as Industrial Strategy. BEIS called upon all TAF members to look at what they can do to help the TAF Board and Secretariat build on the excellent work they are doing already in order to achieve these ambitions.”
As well as keynote sessions, discussions groups showcasing Award winning projects and initiatives on a huge range of topics took place throughout the day. The ever-popular regular sessions on Governance and membership retention and recruitment also ensured the Forum’s continued success with sharing best practice in the trade association world.
Linda Cavender, Chief Executive of the Forum said, “I am delighted to see so many members at the Exchange and even more pleased that the Government recognises the need for trade association input as the UK begins the process of leaving Europe. It has never been more clear that the Government is taking the opportunity to listen hard to UK plc and they are keen to engage as much as possible with industry via TAF members. The Trade Association Forum will continue to do all it can to support the Government and its members in all areas of activity.”
