This Friday One Million Will #IGave8 for #MicroBizMattersDay

Over a million business owners are set to sacrifice eight minutes of their day on January 8th 2016, as part of the second #MicroBizMattersDay’s fantastic #IGave8 initiative.

#MicroBizMattersDay is an annual event which seeks to remind the business community that micro-businesses and startups are the foundation of our economy and business world. The aim is to ‘make life easier for micro enterprise owners everywhere’ – and this year’s event will see the business community coming together under the #IGave8 hashtag to support one another like never before.

Organised by Tina Boden and Tony Robinson OBE, this year’s #MicroBizMattersDay will also involve a fully loaded live event taking place at Enterprise Agency Portobello Business Centre in London. An eight-hour live streaming session will be broadcast from the centre across the web, with guests including Charlie Mullins OBE, Emma Jones MBE, Laura Henry, Penny Power OBE, MOBO award-winning rapper Sway, Michelle Dorrell and Tim Campbell MBE – Boris Johnson’s own Ambassador for Training and Enterprise.

Press are invited to attend the event (#NoHatNoEntry) , which is supported by donations from some of the largest corporations to one-person home businesses – and all attendees will be encouraged to donate to the Hit The Rocks Fund – a newly launched initiative to help business owners devastated by recent flooding.

Tony Robinson OBE, Co-Founder of #MicroBizMattersDay - now in its second year - says, “The fantastic #IGave8 initiative is a great way for business owners to kick off the New Year, helping one another to gain customers, improve their cash-flow or simply increase their confidence. We’ve set ourselves a fairly ambitious aim of getting one million business owners involved, and we’re pretty confident that we’ll meet our target, thanks to the engaged and wonderful network of volunteers that my co-founder, Tina has cultivated!”

Tina Boden adds, “Our primary concern is making life better for micro business owners everywhere, and we’re so grateful that so many membership organisations are supporting our event – FSB, FPB, Enterprise Nation, IAB, National Enterprise Network and many more! It’s wonderful that so many volunteers and organisations are set to unite in a common cause for this one day – supporting one another and showing the true spirit of micro business in the UK.”

Volunteers and business owners planning to take part in the #IGave8 scheme can do so in a multitude of ways. It can be as simple as tweeting or offering RTs to small business for eight minutes, grabbing a coffee with a small business owner to discuss their ideas, or buying products or services from a small, independent business. There’s also an option to give £8.00 to the Hit The Rocks Fund – a great idea for time-strapped volunteers that still want to participate and make a difference.
