FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A South-East England bereavement charity, The Loss Foundation, has been named as a finalist of the Charity Film Awards 2017.
The awards, which are due to take place on Wednesday 15th March 2017 at BAFTA in London’s Piccadilly, celebrate the success of film in fundraising for charities.
Dr Erin Hope Thompson, Clinical Psychologist and Director of The Loss Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be named as a finalist for the Charity Film Awards, and we hope our video, IWontGoQuiet, can shed light on the need for bereavement support across our country so that more people do not go quiet on those who are grieving.”
The Loss Foundation is the only registered charity specializing in cancer bereavement support in the UK. The charity believes that people who lose their loved ones to cancer should be able to access the support they need, and in acknowledging just how many people that is, the charity aims to encourage discussion, provide information and raise awareness through their bereavement support services across the UK.
Famous British comedian, Russell Howard, appears in the video and encourages people to pledge they won't go quiet on their loved ones, "Get your phone - shout, scream, holler "I won't go quiet" into the phone and upload it to social media. Make the world a better place."
Dr Erin Hope Thompson added: “We don’t believe in a world where grief is a taboo – there is so much that can be done to help people during their hardest times, and providing support means that people may not suffer greater difficulties down the line, such as social isolation and mental health difficulties."
Finalists of the Charity Film Awards were shortlisted via a public vote before being selected as a top 5 entry by a panel of judges. The 26 judges include Baroness Kate Parminter and Lord Herman Ouseley of the House of Lords, Patrick Crawford, CEO of Charity Bank and Louise Ridley of Buzzfeed UK.
The red-carpet ceremony will take place at BAFTA, on London’s prestigious Piccadilly, on Wednesday 15th March 2017.
