The Latimer House Creative Studios Launch Night

09 October 2014 12:29

Pippa Latimer Harris is now a finalist in The Great British Entrepreneur Awards, chosen from thousands of other businesses nationally because Latimer House is so unique and different to any other shop in the country.

The shop is stocked with over 70 local artisans work, everything from rocking horses, driftwood mirrors, painted furniture, boats, pianos, handmade leather bags, beautiful wedding dresses, unusual, eclectic, individual, and unique items.

The building is like a life size dolls house complete with balustrades and balconies complete with murals. It's like stepping back in time as 1940's music floats around the 3 floors. Customer's can browse and enjoy the newly opened vintage coffee shop with fresh cakes and pastries. 6 out of every 10 customers who come into the shop after looking around enthusiastically pronounce they would love to live here.

The shop was opened on shoe string and has been decorated throughout with items from the local tip! Including old encyclopedia pages as wallpaper, reclaimed floorboards, mirrors, etc. Who would've thought that 2 years later we would have the famous Tara Howard, founder of The Venus Awards cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony to launch The Latimer House Creative Studios. The Shop is an emporium of everything you may need or desire to transform and adorn your home.

The proprietor Pippa Latimer Harris' life quote is "Anything is possible!" and Latimer House certainly proves this.

About Latimer House

Latimer House is a Downton Abbey stile department store in the center of christchurch set over 3 floors, it is a store like no other.

Pippa Latimer Harris - it's creator turned a sad empty building into this award winning shop selling over 70 local artisan's work, everything from large rocking horses, driftwood mirrors, pianos and painted furniture. She is now launching the top floor of 6 individual studios for artisans in residence to sell directly to the public, a jeweler, an artist, a sculptor, a driftwood artist, an interior designer, and a fabric crafter.

In under two years Latimer House has won "Best shopping experience" - Bournemouth Tourism, "Green business of the year" - Venus Awards, "Small business of the year award" - Venus Awards, and is now a finalist in The Creative Business Award catergory of The Great British Entrepreneur Awards to be held in London in November.

The reason for these awards is because the shop is so different and unique, more like a national trust property/museum where everything is for sale.

Pippa has also opened The Latimer House Craft School within the shop offering 1 day courses in crochet, sewing, furniture painting, jewellery making, basketry, etc. and has now added on the middle floor The Latimer House Vintage Coffee Shop.
