THE GREAT BRITISH ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS 2014 REVEAL FINALISTS

10 October 2014 10:51

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards will culminate at the Awards Ceremony, taking place on Wednesday 19 November in the prestigious Old Billingsgate (London). Celebrating entrepreneurs who embody a spirit of disruption, innovation and enterprise, the Awards will recognise business leaders from multiple industries across the 20 awards categories, including Digital, Young, Social Enterprise and three new categories Food and Drink, Fashion and Media Disruptors.

The shortlist showcases some of the most switched-on business minds in the country. It ranges from the smaller companies:

• Paul Holmes of Kilsyth Community Market Garden, nominated for Micro Entrepreneur of the year, who exemplifies how impactful the contribution of small businesses can be – in fact, micro-enterprises contribute nearly 20% to UK turnover.

To the young (and even younger!) professionals:

• Simon Mellin of Roaming Roosters/Grass Roots, 27 year-old Simon is making waves in the entrepreneurial world, with two innovative organic food businesses to his name that will generate a turnover of £4m this year.
• Ben Towers of Towers Design, as if 500 SME clients and a rapidly expanding team weren’t positive enough indicators, the CEO’s age (Ben is 15!) sends a powerful message of perseverance to any youngsters out there who believe they have a business plan worth pursuing.

Then there are those prospering as eco-business-warriors:

• Warren Bader of Plan Bee, a company making a significant contribution to creating positive change in business by working with some seriously high-profile clients to buffer their green credentials and get their CSR in check by adopting a hive of honeybees.

The Awards recognise new businesses in the form of the Start-Up Entrepreneur of the year award category:

• Elizabetta Camilleri of SalesGossip, whose successful double-sided network business means we can all shop the sales for longer at every price point from high street to luxury.

Businesses with real heart for social issues are recognised by the awards, with the category of Social Enterprise Entrepreneur of the year highlighting noteworthy examples such as:

• Sir Erich Reich of Classic Tours, an extraordinary (and knighted!) individual whose efforts see charity challenges organised all over the world, raising millions for charity and engaging individuals to make a difference.

This year, the Awards are supported by NatWest (headline sponsor),Premium Partner MINI and sponsors ACT Pathway, AXA Business Insurance, Bizcrowd, Croner, Dell, Exact, FedEx, Friendly Pensions, Kaspersky Lab, Kingston Smith, OKI, XLN
