Tax simplification announcement will help small businesses according to Forum
The Simplification of the Corporation Tax Computation Report announced today by the Office of Tax Simplification will be welcomed by the small business community according to the Forum of Private Business.
Tax simplification has been at the heart of the Forum’s lobbying on behalf of business. It featured heavily in the Forum’s ‘Post Brexit Plan’, the ‘Election Wish List’and the ‘ Get Britain Trading’ initiative.
Commenting on the announcement, Ian Cass, Chief Executive of the Forum said, ‘Calculating and paying tax has long been one of the biggest headaches for a small business. The Forum has been campaigning strongly for a material simplification of the tax system, and we are delighted that the OTS has listened to, and acted on, the feedback from Forum members on how to make their lives easier.
Businesses have been concerned that the move towards digital tax would add complexities to an already complex area, and we hope that this genuine commitment towards simplification will be seen as a good move in the right direction by a Government starting to recognise the importance of the SME sector.’
