Support this year’s Small Business Saturday says Cargologic
A Felixstowe-based firm which transports products across the UK is calling on people to get behind Small Business Saturday. Held every year on the first weekend in December, this year it falls on December 1.
Haulier company Cargologic focuses on transporting goods for a wide range of businesses, including smaller organisations, to ensure they are properly stocked.
The owner of the haulier firm, Matyas Meszaros, said: “We’re all for Small Business Saturday and the way it boosts a key area of the British economy. We hope people will mark this important annual occasion and support smaller enterprises as they go about their early Christmas shopping.
“Of course, you can support all kinds of businesses, and not just shops. It’s a great chance to get behind smaller traders rather than the usual chains and online giants.”
"At the same time,” Meszaros continued, “firms should remember the importance of logistics and of ensuring that all stock and deliveries are where they should be, especially at this busy time of year.”
Small Business Saturday has grown considerably since its UK launch five years ago. Among its high-profile backers are the Prime Minister and the Mayor of London, while in 2017 its hashtag trended as the UK’s most popular Twitter subject on the day.
Some 87% of local councils backed the campaign in 2017, an increase from 80% the year before. In addition, a record amount of nearly £748m was spent on the day last year across Britain’s millions of smaller firms.
