Startup Funding Club and Spark10 join forces to raise awareness about early-stage investments in UK and India
London, UK – 14th March 2017 – Startup Funding Club (SFC), the seed investment fund and most active network of business angels in the UK, and Spark10, the technology-focused Startup Accelerator with presence in India and the UK, have joined forces to raise awareness of early-stage investments.
Last Tuesday 14th March, the companies organised an educational event titled “Tax-efficient Investment in Promising British Early Stage Companies.” Hosted at Mathys & Squire’s offices at The Shard, the occasion was aimed at those interested in learning more about investing in early-stage startups.
The session was introduced by SFC’s and Spark10’s CEOs, Stephen Page and Atal Malviya, and went on to cover topics as the current startup scene, different ways to invest through SFC – Angel Investing and Fund Investing –, and the tax benefits SEIS (Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme) and EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) provide. The latter was presented by tax expert Mary Tierney, Tax Director at SFC Bennett Brooks. Other points the presenters covered included how to find future successes and the risks and benefits of investing in early-stage companies.
Following the presentations, the audience was encouraged to participate in a panel discussion with the presenters, in which they were able to further enquire about tax-efficient investing and the startup scene. The event sparked lots of interest, and guests utilised the networking session that took place afterwards to learn more about the topic.
