Start-up entrepreneur named top four business woman of the year

The founder of a Leeds-based start-up PR agency has been named in the top four Business Women of the Year category, at the Yorkshire Choice Awards.

Ellie MacDonald, who founded MacComms in 2015, was named a finalist at an evening awards ceremony, which took place at Elland Road’s Centenary Pavillion, Leeds on 1st April 2017.

The Yorkshire Choice Awards seeks to recognise local people and independent businesses that are an inspiration in their field. The categories cover a wide range of industries and aim to celebrate the achievements of successful businesses in Yorkshire.

The awards attracted more than 300 nominations and 266,403 votes. Four finalists in each awards category, were chosen through public voting.

The Yorkshire Choice Awards supported their chosen charity of the year, Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund, an organisation assisting people living with a genetic heart defect. An auction was held for the charity and Lizzie Jones, founder of the charity, spoke and sang in memory of her late husband, whom the cause is dedicated to.
