Small Business Saturday ‘leads to a thriving economy’ says digital media boss

Dayglow Media is the latest company to show support for Small Business Saturday, the initiative designed to increase awareness and trade for independent businesses.

Specialists in audio-visual media production and digital marketing, Dayglow Media are no strangers to helping raise the profile of independent businesses and famous names alike. After 25 years producing, founder and director Simon Barnett transitioned into producing attention-grabbing and engaging documentaries, films, podcasts and brand videos for a diverse range of clients 2 years ago, helping communicate unique stories using stunning cinematographic production skills.

Director Simon Barnett said, "What kind of places would our local communities be if we didn’t support the companies that have grown out of them? That has been the Dayglow vision for two years, as we aim to help companies of all shapes and sizes by producing audio-visual content that brings their unique vision to life.

"But just as we believe in working with a host of independent businesses and artists, they too realise the benefits of working with us to produce their digital and online content, in terms of the time and attention to detail we are able to show to each project, something that large national or multinational companies simply can’t provide. That’s why we support Small Business Saturday, because it encourages a reciprocal relationship that leads to a thriving local economy."

He added, "But if there’s one message we want people to take away, it’s not just to shop local for one day a year, it’s to support the grassroots organisations, businesses and artists that make our communities vibrant and eclectic places to be all year round."

Small Business Saturday, which took place on Saturday 1 December, has earned the support of public figures such as the Prime Minister and Mayor of London, as well as fashion designer Alexa Chung and actress Billie Piper. Its chief aim is to encourage the public to utilise their local communities, whether on the high street or in the form of small businesses teaming up with fellow independent companies, such as Dayglow Media, to get their stories seen and heard by a wider audience.
