Racefully-- new running app launches with global party & transatlantic virtual run for charity

LONDON [25 July, 2016] -- Racefully, the new virtual running app, is celebrating its recent launch with a simultaneous event in two of the world’s great running cities - London and Boston. Using Racefully’s unique technology, the two venues will be connected through a virtual live race between two charity runners - one in each city. Event attendees will be able to watch the live race play-out on the big screen and cheer the runners on.

Unlike other running apps, Racefully puts the focus on a live, social running experience. Described by Triathlon Business as “a park in your pocket,” Racefully is a place for runners to virtually meet up and run together, regardless of their location. Once a user has launched a race with friends, Racefully’s Live Run feature keeps track of who’s keeping pace, who’s falling behind, and who’s taking the lead in real time.

The app’s launch event aims not only to highlight this unique technology, but also the growing connection between running, community and charity, and, more specifically, running’s ability to do good in the world.

Co-founder Chris Pointon adds that “At Racefully, we believe that running is a catalyst that builds positive connections between people, not only within our own communities, but on a global scale. It seemed only natural that we should launch the Racefully app with an international celebration of our shared love of running and its power to do good in the world.”

The live run will feature London-based Natalie Doble, a devoted sister and nursing student raising funds for the St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, and Boston-based Collin Matthews, a Boston Marathon veteran running for the Martin Richard Foundation.

Racefully’s launch party is set for July 28th 6:00pm BST (1:00pm EST) at WeWork Old Street in London and WeWork South Station in Boston. The live run will commence at 6:30pm BST. Find out more about the event and RSVP here:

In line with Racefully's launch activities, the new running app is currently fundraising on Crowdcube (link to 2:50], one of the UK’s leading crowdfunding platforms. For as little as £10, anyone can invest in the world’s most social fitness app.
