FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Founded in 2010 by Lulu Elliott, a female technician, the RA Agency which now represents over 150 freelancers is launching the RA Network.
With support from the BFI Diversity fund, Reel Angels has now expanded to include RA Network which is now live at reelangels.tv. The RA Network connects female technicians for peer to peer networking and support.
Lulu Elliott noted that 'I simply looked at the industry reports and I noticed the severe lack of female representation in the technical departments. I believe that simply with promotion of these women through Reel Angels, we will increase employment of female freelancers in these areas. This is an industry about being ‘seen’. '
Kate Kinnimont, CEO of Women in Film & TV, said: “‘Reel Angels is a positive agency working to support women in the industry, both through training and career opportunities. Their aim to increase the number of women in roles where they are currently underrepresented - such as camera, lighting, and sound - is one that we at WFTV (UK) wholeheartedly support.”
As part of the launch activities for RA Network, Reel Angels is hosting three networking events in Bristol, London and Manchester. The networking events which will take place on the 5th, 13th and 19th October respectively will include panel discussions featuring an array of speakers including Jennie Paddon, Grace Donaldson, Judi Lee-Headman and Emma Edwards.
Registration for tickets to the events is now open on Eventbrite
