Online payment tool formed from unsuccessful stag do

A serial businessman has launched an innovative online payment tool for the weddings market having experienced a badly organised stag party.

Seasoned businessman and technology expert behind thriving businesses Top Screen Media and Perks Loyalty, Achille Traore, was inspired to form Swoosch.it in 2016, following a disorganised stag do he attended.

Achille felt so frustrated that the guests were spread out across an unknown city, making travel to meet one and other costly, awkward and time consuming; with separate groups completing different activities, that he decided there must be a better way. Having researched the market to no avail, he decided to set up Swoosch to improve events, activities and anything which relies on group payments.

Swoosch, launched last year, is an easy and convenient method for groups and individuals to collect and manage money, safely online. In three easy steps, users can create, customise and invite friends to contribute to a ‘pot’ where funds can be securely held for special occasions such as stag and hen parties, weddings, and contributions towards honeymoons. Once the target amount has been raised, the money can then be instantly transferred to the organisers’ bank account.

Leeds-based Swoosch is a crowdfunding platform with simplicity and security at the heart of its operations. As society moves towards a cashless era, Swoosch.it takes the hassle out of organising events and collecting money. The platform is easy to track, saves time, reduces effort, and allows funds to be raised at a much quicker rate.

Danielle Drummond who organised her friend, Rhian’s hen party in January this year, used the platform and comments:

“I set up a Swoosch account to help organise our budget for our best friend’s hen party. She had 11 hens from ages 18-50, all from different parts of the UK and we didn’t all know each other at this point – all of which was pretty daunting for a ‘first-time hen’! Swoosch was an amazing tool to easily connect everyone without having to exchange phone numbers or bank accounts – it did all the money arranging for us so that it was clear to everyone where the money was being spent and when. Being able to quickly send messages to each other was also a massive help towards the planning. I would highly recommend Swoosch to anyone planning an event – small or large!”

Achille comments:

“I knew that if I felt these frustrations on what should have been an enjoyable weekend away to celebrate my friend’s impeding nuptials, that others must too. I couldn’t find anything to help and so, embracing a challenge, I decided to set it up myself and I’m really proud of what we have produced!”

The new business is also the payment method of choice for a national charity campaign, #DareToBare, which aims to encourage people to take a topless selfie covering breasts or chest with hands or by using props. All funds raised go to Cancer Research UK, photos are uploaded to social media and three friends are tagged with the hashtag to continue the campaign.
