No danger of football hooligans when 'The Surveyors World Cup' comes to sunny Romford this Friday.

Raising money for 'The Freekicks Foundation' at The World Cup

35 Teams from the Construction Industry will be heading down to Romford for 'The Surveyors World Cup 2018'. They will be greeted by Ex West Ham United Cpatain and Talk Sport presenter Alvin Martin who is hosting the event on behalf of 'The Downwell Group'. Alvin is currently commentating on the World Cup in Russia for Talk Sport.

This will be the fourth year 'The Suveyors Cup' has been held with this World Cup version. The tournament is organised by The Downwell Group who provide Demolition and Enabling services to a wide range of clients from the Construction Industry. The first event had 12 teams competing so the event is really growing and becoming very popular within the Industry. Two years ago there was a Euro Surveyors Cup which was won by Quinn London. Last year 24 teams took part with the Potter Raper Partnership running out winners.

This years tournament is raising money for 'The Free Kicks Foundation' (http://www.freekicksfoundation.org/)a Peterborough based charity who raise money to give terminally ill and deserving children a football experience. The match day experience can be as a mascot at their favourite club or simply just going to a match which for some of the children can be difficult due to disabilities. All competing teams have been asked if they would make a donation to this fantastic charity. One of the companies who has unfortunately had to drop out kindly donated £500.00.

Donations to this charity will be very much appreciated.

Alvin Martin who lives in Romford will be the host on the day. There will be an auction to raise money for the Free Kicks Foundation and he has kindly donated one of his prized items from his playing career to the auction. Last year Downwell were able to raise over £2000 for the Jonjo Heureman Fund for Nanny and Bobby. Downwell are hoping they surpass this.

Unlike the World Cup in Russia there will be 35 teams taking part. Each company will be playing as a World Cup competing Country. Downwell have added the home nations countries of Scotland, Wales and The Republic of Ireland. Essentially all competing teams will be going into the same group matches as the World Cup. The companies taking part include: Keir, Willmott Dixon, Galliard Homes, Edward Cooper Young, Ashe Construction, Gleeds, GVA, Stace LLP, Gardiner and Theobald and Edward Cooper Young Surveyors. With the amount of interest received Downwell could have doubled the amount of teams taking part and there are plans to extend the tournament next year and possibly sponsor a league.

There will also be three student photographers from Havering College attending and using the tournament to gain valuable event experience and help build their portfolios.

Billericay based Sports Massage company Mckagans will be keeping the players mobile during the tournament.

With a post match BBQ and the waether looking as though it is going to match that of Russia it is looking to be a great day of football with a World Cup atmosphere.

Who will be crowned World Cup Champions?
