New Research Suggests that more people should be eating Gluten-Free

12 May 2014 13:00

As many as two million Americans may have coeliac disease. Coeliac UK, the national charity for coeliac disease announces today, May 12, 2014, new research from the University of Nottingham that has found a fourfold increase in the rate of diagnosed cases of coeliac disease in the United Kingdom over the past two decades.

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease caused by intolerance to gluten. Left untreated it may lead to infertility, osteoporosis and small bowel cancer. 1 in 100 people in the UK have coeliac disease. The only treatment is a strict gluten-free diet for the rest of your life.

However, this can mean going into your local supermarket and finding no bread that you can eat. No pasta, cereal or flour. You can mostly forget about treats too.

This is where Truede comes in. Our Turkish Delight and Chocolate Spoons are both Gluten Free. We have a commitment to producing luxury confectionery that a wide range of people can consume. This is just one of the ways in which we do that.
