Magic Roundabout

Magic Roundabout's 1st Birthday

21 June 2016 14:30

UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL 21 June 2016 13:00

The Magic Roundabout is officially one year old, and you are invited to the party.

The venue has hosted some of the biggest and best parties in London and even won an award for ‘Best Outdoor Venue’. Now it’s time to celebrate with all of the wonderful people who've been involved this far - you!

Only 18 months ago the Old Street roundabout, commonly referred to as Silicon roundabout, stood dormant, with only a few structures above ground to show that it was on top of a tube station. The google screen that stands above the round about was about to get a new neighbour. The venue that is now there started off with only the bear basics, such as a small water pipe, a staircase to the station and a little bit of a drain. The site did not even have a post code.

Since then bars have been built, kitchens have been created in containers and the site has totally transformed. When it first opened a year ago the festival feel was enhanced with a large generator and portable loo's. But it has grown up a lot in a year, with actual electricity, real toilets and sheltered and tented areas. Its secret staircase is not so secret and is the main entrance via the station. You can even GPS us, with our postcode. The site still has its old favourite Burger Bear, with its Grizzly burger ranked in the top ten burgers in London. But it is also joined by WMCJ and the newest addition to the Magic family is Bassano bar, which serves some great authentic Italian and Americano-style cocktails. This bar is brought to you from Nardini – Italy’s oldest distillery – with gins, vodka and rum from one of England’s most acclaimed new distillers, Bow’s East London Liquor Company.

Past parties have included -
The Little Festival
Definition
The Prince Farah Show
Blend Gospel Choir
Burger Bear
White Men Cant Jerk
The Bassano Bar
Drunken Dairy
Glitter Girls
Funzing Make & Do

The party will be 22nd June at 7pm, @ Magic Roundabout, just above Old Street station. If you can not make it, that's ok, please feel free to come down and visit another time.

If you would like to join us please send an email to rsvp@magicroundabout.co or if you have any further questions, or would like to visit on a different day, please to contact sarah@burgerbearuk.com

About Magic Roundabout

The Magic Roundabout is a pop up style Venue situated on Old Street's Silicon roundabout. This open air venue, opened a year ago and has proved that people love that festival feel all year long (with a bit of shelter added for winter obviously). Working with the urban feel of a roundabout in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in London, its creators have utilised the ground protruding structures, by covering them with graffiti and working them into the structures they have built. Kitchens and offices utilise shipping containers, and some furniture and a bar is made out of pellets.

The original main brand is Burger Bear, with their award winning burgers and gorgeous bacon jam. They have been joined by White Men Can't Jerk recently, after revolving food entrepreneurs such as Prawnography and Food Circus. But it is not just about food. The venue has three main bars and 2 portable ones that offer a selection of local and craft beers and cider. This is woven together with a diverse selection of parties, from Reggae through to house and is a sought after venue with a lot of well known promoters such as Split Milk.

Open Tuesday to Sunday from midday and Mondays for private events. It is a venue that constantly changes itself to the customers requirements, with business meetings and casual hot-desking during the day (Wifi is great) and parties, art shows, fashion parades and brand launches in the evening, (to name but a few events).
