Local little ones set to splash for charity!
Between 15% and 30% of all reported pregnancies end in miscarriage - a statistic which may come as a shock to some. Grieving parents find support in many ways but every need is different. That’s why Tommy’s does all it can to help those coping with the devastating loss of a child. Day in, day out, the charity funds research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage, and provides vital information and support for parents.
In support of this incredible work, Water Babies Bucks and Beds are raising funds for Tommy’s by doing what they know best – swimming!
Hundreds of ‘Splashathon’ events will take place throughout the week of the 2nd until the 8th July. Children from as young as twelve weeks old will be swimming their hearts out, to help save the lives of other little ones! During their weekly Water Babies swimming classes, local new-borns, toddlers and pre-schoolers will be donning their best super hero get-ups, to swim a width of the pool.
Teachers and parents alike will also be taking part wearing their silliest superhero outfits, in the hope of raising lots of money for this worthy cause which is close to so many hearts.
Tamsin Brewis, who owns Water Babies Bucks and Beds, is passionate about the invaluable research Tommy’s does and her team of teachers are right behind her!
“At Water Babies, we cannot stress the importance of the work that Tommy’s does. They can provide so much care and support for grieving parents, and even new parents can receive the best possible information from the team at Tommy’s. Myself, my teachers and all of the parents are so proud to be supporting this charity, and we’re looking forward to seeing how much we can raise!”
A very familiar face will be joining Tamsin’s little swimmers for their heroic day of fundraising – Peppa Pig! As the official Splashathon partner, Pepper will be popping up at the local pools to congratulate little ones throughout their fundraising efforts. She’s even offering the family that raise the most money for Tommy’s a trip to Peppa Pig World.
Tamsin and her team hope to raise as much money as possible for Tommy’s, so that they can continue the amazing work they do for parents and new-borns. You can visit fundraising link to get involved too!
