The sixth British Food Fortnight is underway and will continue until October 7. And a local hog roast firm is encouraging people to get involved.
The event takes the form of a competition, in which community organisations from schools to councils and others enter celebrations of their region’s finest produce, which forms such a key part of their area’s local heritage.
Based in the Suffolk Village of Gislingham, Harris’s Hog Roast is a barbecue catering firm that’s available for private and public bookings, supplying delicious, freshly cooked pork and rolls with salad and even cupcakes for afters. Cooking, carving and serving is all done at the venue.
Director David Harris said: “We’re all really enjoying the fortnight and its celebration of British food. We’re always keen to use high-quality food that’s ethically and locally sourced. It’s also a healthier way to feed guests because of the reduced fat and oil used.
“A hog roast is a high-quality catering solution which is both delicious and cost-effective and ensures none of your guests goes hungry. Why not book one for your event during British Food Fortnight and join in the fun?”
Food fortnight is all about groups holding events and submitting photos of them, and posting on social media. You can enter until October 15th.
This year, there's another impressive line-up of judges on the panel, among them celebrity chef Raymond Blanc.
Last year, the Ginger & Spice Festival in Market Drayton won, while Emsworth in Hampshire is a previous winner, alongside the cities Bath and Peterborough.
