Let UK small businesses build Hinkley Point, says FSB
Commenting on the Government’s decision to proceed with the Hinkley Point C nuclear power project Mike Cherry, Federation of Small Businesses National Chairman, said:
“Investment in energy infrastructure is critical for the future power supply of the UK and ensuring the lights stay on for small firms. If nuclear is to form part of the UK’s energy mix, UK small businesses must have opportunities to be part of the supply chain. As with all flagship public projects, small firms will want to see a sincere commitment to drive small business friendly procurement practices, including appropriately sized contract opportunities and supply chain monitoring.
“It’s important the Government continues to make big decisions on nationally significant infrastructure projects, including HS2 and airport expansion in the South East. Pressing ahead with shovel-ready infrastructure projects is vital to boosting economic growth and wellbeing.”
