Husband and wife team putting business at the heart of their community

Local print and signage company, Signarama, is a leading supplier for its Solihull-based customers. But it’s also a family business, owned and operated by husband and wife team, Tracy and Jeremy Andrews, who are passionate about supporting the local community. In fact, the couple say that having a strong community spirit is just as important to them as the day-to-day running of their business.

“We love Birmingham - Solihull really is our home and we’re proud to own and run a business here. Operating in the B2B sector, you could easily think that you wouldn’t need to be a big part of the local community but for us, that couldn’t be further from the truth,” says Jeremy.

“Having always lived in the area, the people and businesses here really matter to us. And now, as business owners ourselves, we’re keen to step up and do what we can to support others and be involved. Obviously, we pride ourselves on being the best we can be for our customers and our staff but it’s about more than making money, it’s about helping others and giving back along the way,” adds Tracy.

Since opening its doors in 2009, Signarama Birmingham South has gone from strength to strength. The business employs five people and, as you would expect, Tracy and Jeremy are keen that it’s local talent that is recognised and given the opportunity to progress.

“Our staff are all local and whether they’re customer facing or in more ‘behind the scenes’ production roles, we want them to be happy, confident and always improving,” says Jeremy. “We encourage them to take on greater responsibility and offer training and skills development. We hope that they’d choose to stay with us of course but it’s important that no matter what they decide to do in the future, people benefit by being part of our team.”

Tracy and Jeremy are regular faces at local events and are proud supporters of The Lily Mae Foundation, a local charity which offers support for parents who suffer a Stillbirth or Neonatal Death. For the last two years, they’ve sponsored various events and provided signage for the now famous Balsall Common Fun Run which is growing in stature and is regularly attracting 600+ runners and walkers every year!

“The Lily Mae Foundation is such a worthy cause and it’s one that’s very close to our hearts because we know the family though our little boy, Zak’s, school. This goes back to what we were saying about being local business owners – I think it’s so important to do what we can to help raise awareness and get involved with things that make a real difference in the community,” explains Tracy.

From supporting local charities, getting involved in community events and expanding the business to provide vital work for the area, Tracy and Jeremy have big plans for their Signarama store. Unsurprisingly, most, if not all, benefit other people as well as themselves. After all, “isn’t that what it means to be a business at the heart of the community?” says Jeremy.
