GE Healthcare and NHS Trust acquire Active Commuting cyclist and runner hub facilities

18 January 2017 11:00

Active Commuting Limited has now built three of their cyclist and run commuter hubs.

Active Commuting is a British company which has come up with a neat solution for employers with little or no showers, changing rooms and bike storage to accommodate the employees who want to cycle or run to work. With numbers of Active Commuters increasing, the onus is on employers to encourage their workforce by providing the full range of facilities. Often, companies simply do not have the space available in existing buildings to give over to showers and a bike store but do have outside space, or be willing to sacrifice a small area of car park.

Active Commuting has developed a modular system of units - pods that can be used to securely store bikes, contain showers, changing areas and lockers.

Founder, Andrew Rechten said “I am on a mission. I love to cycle to work, combining a workout with my commute. I wanted to find the most economic model for showers, changing rooms and secure bike storage which is as portable, adaptable and scalable as possible. "

Active Commuting have announced the completion of their third changing room and bike store hub.

The USP is each pod is standalone, portable and can be stacked one on top of the other to reduce footprint. This allows an organisation to build a facility that suits their specific requirements; with the flexibility to add to it as demand increases, or even move it around the estate or take it with them if they move premises.

The changing rooms and bike store pods are built in 3 different sizes; more details available at
