Fund raises Healthcare Company’s fitness to deliver

An Independent healthcare service provider has been established in Ossett, creating the opportunity for careers in the Wakefield area.

With extensive experience in different roles within the Health Industry, Paul Caffrey decided to start his own business, Heart Medical, which provides medical support for events, patient transport and first aid training courses.

Finance from the Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) assisted with the businesses start-up costs and set the wheels in motion.

Paul has gathered momentum with the finance by purchasing a fleet of fully equipped ambulances and a wide range of training equipment. This investment has secured Heart Medical contracts with a wide range of customers in the public & private sector. The business has also received a large amount of interest for delivering first aid training to businesses across the region.

BEF Investment Manager John Hall assisted Paul with raising the finance his business needed. “Paul’s experience in the sector made for a strong business case” John said. “With his knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses across different departments, he has been able to start his business with an advantage.”

“I’m very glad to have had John at our side from the beginning” said Paul. “He was referred to us from our business advisor Kevin Newson and between them they’ve really pointed the business in the right direction. We wouldn’t be where we are now without them.”

“I’ve known John for many years and knew BEF would be able to help this business.” Said Kevin. “It’s been a team effort; good support is key.”

Having received very positive feedback, Heart Medical is further investing in infrastructure by purchasing specialist vehicle’s and equipment ready for a busy 2017. Heart Medical are also launching a specialist Pre-hospital training centre, launching in January 2017, which will train students up to a Level 5 Diploma in Emergency & Urgent Care.

The team have also registered with the Armed Forces Covenant and Resettlement Services, meaning Paul will be able to train and employ ex-service personnel.
