FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mike Lane, former corporate businessman and self-confessed ‘professional suit wearer’, celebrates his first year in creating bespoke and stylish formal and country wear for the patrons of Bath, Bristol and the surrounding areas. As a key member of the local professional social scene, tailor and owner of Suit the City in the south west, Mike is proud to celebrate a successful first year in made to order suits and casual wear.
With two decades of business ownership behind him, Mike’s background was less fashion forward, more corporate grind. When he sold his industrial packaging firm in 2014, he started to look for a new business opportunity which would suit his passion for timeless style.
“I’ve always considered myself to be a snappy dresser. Once I’d received my first Suit the City outfit, it became evident that despite my best efforts, I’d spent the last 30 years in rather ill-fitting and uninspiring suits! Having retrained as a tailor with Suit the City, I really understand what the customer is looking for because I wear my own products every day - well-fitting, flattering clothes that make me look and feel great!” says Mike.
Londoner Mike relocated to the west country with wife, Liz, in 2015. As admirers of the stunning Somerset scenery, the couple fully immersed themselves in the slower paced – and community minded – way of life, with Mike acting as Chairman for a local voluntary trust. With his background in management and business ownership, Mike trained in Suit the City’s client-focused consultation and garment design service, before launching his business in May of last year.
Mike is a proud member of numerous local business networks and a frequent face on the south west social scene. He also regularly collaborates with local shoe boutique owner, Chris Macnamara, who owns the Brogue Trader store on Green Street, as they share a passion for quality and stylish garments.
With a consulting room on Queen Square, right in the heart of Bath city centre, Mike already boasts an impressive clientele of local celebrities, business leaders and professional sports stars. With a passion for great style, and an admirer of the elegant country wear which is so quintessentially British, Mike has reaped the benefits of a successful year as Bath’s go-to-guy for bespoke tailoring.
“I relish in being part of the close-knit community of business owners and retailers in Bath and have built a loyal client list who have recommended my service to others – I pride myself on the fact that I’ve built my business from those personal recommendations. Bath is a beautiful city, with great personal style, so the demand for bespoke country and casual wear has continued to grow over this first year. I’d like to thank those who have already worked with me, and those who I look forward to meeting with in the future – whether that be from my Bath-based consulting room, or from their own homes or office spaces. Here’s to another year of style and success!”
