Four years of supporting creativity in South London
The Children’s Creative Community (CCC) Club, based in South London, is celebrating its 4 year anniversary.
The group, made up of local parents wanting to create a space for their children to grow, develop, learn and create, started in 2014 with a small number of parents, but have grown hugely, and have now helped over 300 families.
Kate Faragher, Co-Director of BeBright Projects which supports the group, said: “When we started the club we wanted to find an alternative way to merge playdates with learning, but we had no experience at the time. Luckily we had a former nursery manager in our ranks. Cher Walker Moore had recently left her local role as a manager in a nursery where we had all sent our children, and she was willing to help in a voluntary capacity initially.”
Now four years old, the club sometimes helps up to 140 families at any one time, and has delivered a number of different courses to children between the ages of 5 and 11, as well as helping parents on inset days.
The club founders cite the lack of sufficient breakfast clubs and after-school clubs in the local area as the reason for their growth.
Kate added: “As the original members are currently seeing their children move from primary to secondary school we are looking at news ways to enable the next generation to continue enjoying what’s on offer at the CCC Club, as well as ways we can keep the club going in the longer term.”
