Forum of Private Business welcomes Government move to reduce Red Tape

The Forum of Private Business welcomes today's announcement by the Government of the merging of the Better Regulation Delivery Office and the National Measurement and Regulation Office with the intention of reducing the burden of regulation on small businesses.

Ian Cass, Chief Executive of the Forum of Private Business said, 'Working with the Government on behalf of Forum members to reduce and simplify red tape is one of our key objectives. The merging of these two departments, and placing the reduction of the regulatory burden on businesses directly under the control of the Business Minister has to be good news for business, and should mean more time for growing business and less time filling forms in.'

The Forum’s survey in June 2015 indicated that the lost value to the UK’s economy as a result of red tape adherence as £41billion, with the relative costs growing at 8.5% per annum.
