Forum of Private Business welcomes Business Rate transparency.
The business lobby organisation, the Forum of Private Business welcomes the Government's announcement that it proposes to review Business Rates and introduce more transparency.
Business Rates represent a material financial burden on small, high street businesses and in supporting the Government's line, Ian Cass, Chief Executive of the Forum is looking for reassurances that the current Business Rate relief for small businesses will not be diluted, and also that the overall business rate bill for the business sector will not be increased as part of the exercise.
Commenting, Ian Cass said, 'A fairer and transparent business rate regime is much needed and the proposed review is to be welcomed. Whilst 600,000 businesses appear to be in line for lower bills, at the same time we have to ensure that the opportunity is not taken to increase the overall tax take, and that the current exemptions are continued as these represent a major part of whether a businesses makes the important growth step from home working to a structured business model with employees.'
The government is requesting responses to their consultation by 26 October.
