Forum of Private Business

Forum encourages small businesses to fill the Marmite gap

13 October 2016 11:28

As the impact of the weaker exchange rate hits the major supermarkets like Tesco, the Forum of Private Business is encouraging UK businesses to seize the opportunity and position themselves as preferred Sterling based suppliers.

Ian Cass, MD of the Forum commented, 'For too long major retail outlets have squeezed their small UK suppliers both on terms and price, in favour of multinational suppliers like Unilever. The impact of that strategy is now starting to bite, and we are calling on the large U.K. retailers to open their delivery doors to the small UK producers once again, on transparent terms, and prompt payment. This would not only support UK small business, but also ensure that UK consumers don't have to pay the price of Brexit uncertainty'
