Forum calls on Prime Minister to give small businesses Brexit certainty
The Forum of Private Business is calling on Teresa May to give small businesses some clarity of the Government's plans for Brexit when she addresses Parliament.
Members of the Forum are reporting a reluctance to invest and grow whilst they are unclear on what the new landscape will look like.
Chief Executive of the Forum, Ian Cass commented, ' The Bank of England's Credit Survey on Friday said it all. Demand for credit from small businesses fell in the last quarter of 2016, and is forecast to fall again in the first quarter of this year. That's no surprise whilst businesses wait to see whether they face a hard or soft Brexit, and how the new trade arrangements will affect their future. For businesses to invest, employ and grow they need some certainty on the environment they are likely to be operating in. We are looking for the Prime Minister to give some clear direction to businesses when she updates Parliament.'
