Flat pint for Pub Adjudicator as Forum warns of impending hangover

The Forum of Private Business is highlighting concern in the pubs, restaurants and hospitality industry, after it was revealed that the Pubs Code Adjudicator has a conflict of interest. Following an Early day Motion tabled in Parliament on the 14 September and formal comment by the British Pub Confederation the position of the Pub Adjudicator is seen by the Forum as untenable.

Managing Director of the Forum of Private Business, Ian Cass, said: “It seems that Paul Newby has a conflict of interest, and as a result may not be trusted by large numbers of those people he’s supposed to be adjudicating on.”

Among other issues, it is reported that Mr Newby misled MPs about his shareholdings in leisure property company Fleurets.
