Integrate UK is a Finalist for the 2017 Charity Film Awards
On 6th of February it was announced that Integrate UK has been unveiled as one of the finalists for the 2017 charity film awards for their film ‘Everybody’s Business’, a short one shot drama about female genital mutilation (FGM). This was particularly exciting as the 6th February is the International FGM Zero Tolerance Day.
The Charity Film Awards celebrate the effective use of video by the third sector, whether to change mindsets, raise awareness for the charity or fundraise
The finalists have been through two stages of judging. With over 43,000 people taking part in the public voting stage to determine the shortlist, the charity film awards panel of expert judges, which include Matthew Taylor, chief executive of RSA, Baroness Kate Parminter and Lord Herman Ouseley, then whittled the shortlist down to the finalists. The winners of inaugural 2017 charity film awards will be announced on 15 march at gala ceremony at BAFTA.
Everybody’s Business is a lesson resource used by Integrate UK’s young people who go into schools and deliver peer education sessions on FGM and other challenging issues. The young people wanted to show that FGM is like any other form of abuse; they felt FGM was being treated like a separate issue that had been placed in a cultural cul-de-sac.
Muna Hassan, a lead outreach worker in Integrate UK said “I am delighted to see our video getting this far in the charity film awards and to hear that we are finalists on Zero Tolerance day is just amazing! We are all very honoured to be amongst the finalists.”

The charity film awards received an incredible number of quality entries and enthusiasm from the third sector for these awards is fantastic.
Charity causes are at the hearts of the public. Tens of thousands of people took advantage of the public voting stage to choose the videos which they found to be the most effective charity film and ensure they got to the next stage to be seen by the expert panel of judges. The results of this is we have quality finalists who are in the hearts of the public. Each finalist should be proud to have reached this stage
