Female Traveller Safety Organisation Running Free Webinar To Mark International Women's Day

To mark International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8th March, women’s travel network and safeguarding organisation Maiden Voyage will be hosting a free charity webinar on the topic of Female Traveller Safety.

Whether it’s London, Paris, New York or Hong Kong, the prospect of business travel sounds exciting and glamorous, but the reality is often quite different. Legal and cultural restrictions often differ for women travelling to certain destinations, and personal safety concerns can increase stress levels and decrease ability to perform effectively.

In their 45-minute webinar, Maiden Voyage will guide women through making the most of their business trip whilst keeping safe at all times, sharing some of the legal and cultural restrictions women might face when travelling to a new territory, top tips on hotel safety and even how to avoid becoming a victim of kidnap.

The webinar will also learn explore how women can use the resources Maiden Voyage offers, to get hotel upgrades, connect with other female business travellers heading to the same city, and how to access local ambassadors who can share their little black books of the best things to see and do whilst in a new city.

The webinar is completely free, made possible by the sponsorship of DoorJammer. Joining the webinar will be women from networks around the world, including: Professional Women's Network (PWN), WEConnect, Women's Engineering Society (WES), Athena International and Forward Ladies.

It will be delivered in support of Maiden Voyage's chosen charity Women for Women International. Through Women for Women International’s 12-month programme, women learn about their rights, as well as key life, vocational and business skills to access livelihoods and break free from poverty.

Since 1993, Women for Women International has supported 447,000 women in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kosovo, Iraq, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan. They also engage men in their work, to break down prejudices and practices which prevent women from reaching their full potential.

While the webinar itself is free, participants will have the opportunity to make a voluntary donation to Women for Women International, if they so wish, through the Maiden Voyage Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Maiden-Voyage

The webinar is open to a global audience, with a morning and afternoon session (GMT). Details of international time zones can be found via the registration links below.
