ENTREPRENEUR LARA MORGAN PLANS TO IMPROVE SPORTS FACILITIES IN BRITAIN WITH A MULTI-MILLION BOOST
Sports facilities in Britain could be set for a multi-million-pound boost thanks to a social enterprise company set up by businesswoman Lara Morgan. Lara is one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs and her new body and skin care company, activbod, is being registered as a social enterprise to raise funds for new facilities across the UK.
Her goal now is to make activbod a leading niche brand that will be able to hand up to £100m over for the building of athletics tracks, hockey pitches and other sports related amenities throughout the country.
It’s her way of paying something back into Britain after amazing business success that saw her sell her first company – Pacific Direct – for £20m.
Frustrated with the lack of good sports facilities in her home town of Salisbury, former GB triathlete Lara looked in to funding a new hockey pitch for the city. It was her husband Charlie who suggested for the cost of a new pitch she could start a business which could eventually be sold to fund new facilities across the country. After meeting another up and coming entrepreneur Kate Darch, who like Lara had a background in fragrance, she set about putting the plan into action and activbod was born.
First launched in January, activbod is a range of body and skin care toiletries that have been specially formulated for use pre and post exercise. Combining the science of skincare with natural ingredients and the unique needs of sports and exercise enthusiasts, the products help to aid recovery, improve comfort during exercise and banish workout worries.
“I maybe a triathlete, but I don’t care what people do to keep fit. What I do care about is I think if people reward themselves and they recover better they are more likely to exercise regularly. And if that raises the heartbeat of the nation then we have succeeded.” Says Lara on the brand.
