Ellough Park Raceway welcomes annual Charity Motorsport event

The Disabled Racing Drivers Car Club (DRDCC) will be hosting its annual Charity Motorsport Awareness Day on 9th September.

The event, which will take place at Ellough Park Raceway, aims to raise awareness of the opportunities in motorsport for drivers with disabilities and will highlight achievements by some of the sport's most accomplished racers.

At the free event, visitors will have the chance to take part in various fun-filled activities throughout the day, and compete for a number of prizes. The main event of the day will be a two-hour karting endurance race - a competition that will see up to 20 teams compete for awards and prizes.

"Our motorsport awareness day is great way to show that there is so much more to motorsport than just driving cars," said Patrick Ward, vice president of the DRDCC. "Motorsport is a passion that is enjoyed by people in all kinds of capacities and offers so many opportunities for those with disabilities. There is no better way to celebrate this than with a fun-filled event that anyone can enjoy - regardless of age, gender or physical ability. I am really excited for what promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled day, and look forward to welcoming our guests."

In addition to the main competition, there'll be plenty more for all of the family to enjoy, including a variety of charity stands, car club stands, racing car displays and a "show and shine" car show that will award owners of the most stunning cars.

Charity Motorsport Awareness Day will be open to the public from 9:30am on September 9th at Ellough Park Raceway. Teams that wish to enter the main karting competition must sign up at 10am promptly on the day, for an 11am start.

The DRDCC is a registered charity and car club aimed at helping those with disabilities to get into motorsport. The organisation runs a monthly club night at the Worlds End in Norwich, at which it provides support and advice for those that wish to race, compete or spectate in the sport.

About Disabled Racing Drivers Car Club

We are a friendly club where you can get involved with grassroots level motorsport, anything from watching to competing and all points between. We are affiliated to the Motor Sports Association (MSA), the only governing body for motorsport in England, Scotland and Wales. We are also a registered charity, and donations will help us get more disabled people into the sport. Our aim is to start with track days and, as we get the funding, to get people out on the race track competing or helping the backroom staff doing the important things to make any motorsport event run smoothly.
