Download the Wander App This Christmas

Christmas is the busiest shopping period on the calendar, with a huge surge in footfall on the high street and greater demand placed on small retailers.

Even in a time of austerity, people want to spend and shops need to recruit quickly to fill seasonal vacancies.

Temp jobs allow smaller retailers to cover the shop floor during the busiest shopping season, but needing to recruit quickly shouldn’t mean ‘making do’ with mediocre staff.

That’s why recruitment firm Wander has created an app which will benefit both those seeking Christmas jobs and those in search of the best talent to fill seasonal vacancies.

The Wander app notifies passers by that a retailer is recruiting, meaning an increase in the number of applications and a greater choice of candidates.

As well as working with big brand names such as Nando’s and Café Rouge, Wander also believes its smart new app will benefit smaller independent stores in the run-up to Christmas.

Wander owner Luke Secker said: “We know what a busy period the run up to Christmas is for local businesses, and increased footfall also means added pressure. When companies need to increase their staffing numbers they need to do so quickly and efficiently, and that’s where we feel our app can help.

“This isn’t just for the big high street brands. It’s also for those smaller retailers who really pride themselves on the levels of service and the personal touch they can offer. Our app increases the number of temp candidates applying to them, helping retailers find the very best new staff in the shortest amount of time.”

The app will be a boon to jobseekers in the coming weeks, harnessing the power of GPS to flag up local stores who could need their help. For employers the app is also good news, generating interest in their businesses at the seasonal peak of the shopping season.
