About Andersen

About Andersen UK based innovative makers of stylish, high-end residential electric vehicle charge points founded in 2016. Their vision to provide luxury smart electric car charge points perfect for modern living. Their first product is The Andersen A1. It is the first designer charge point for electric car drivers wishing to experience premium home charging and outstanding aesthetics. Equally suited to residents of country dwellings and to those living in smart townhouses. Customers can configure their own colour combination from a range of eight carefully selected shades. Andersen charge points are as they declare themselves, 'Worth Driving Home To'. In collaboration with award-winning Paul Crofts Studio the A1 is inspired by Scandinavian, minimalist design. Discreet and super slim, it is made of aluminium, stainless steel and modified timber Accoya wood. The A1 is the only 7kW tethered charge point that neatly stores and conceals all 4.7 metres of cable and plug. This was an important requirement and Andersen ended up developing their own cable. They use a team of hand picked installers to ensure every installation leaves customers feeling delighted. With the expansion of the electric car industry, Andersen believe their home charge point is one of the best in the market place. PRESS RELEASE: Andersen celebrate online launch of first designer home electric car charge point. 'Worth driving home to…' London, December 2018: Andersen (andersen-ev.com), UK based innovative makers of stylish, high-end residential electric vehicle charge points today celebrate online launch of their A1 charge point. Entrepreneurs David Simpson, Mandy Simpson and Jérôme Faissat, founded Andersen based on the growth of e-car and hybrid vehicle sales and after a fruitless search for an elegant charge-point led them to craft their own. They have transformed the unloved residential electric car charge point from its plastic casing into a stylish, lifestyle high-end product with aspirational international appeal, sustainable wood finishes with a timeless aesthetic. The UK Governments 2017 budget has recognised the incredible potential for electric cars by pledging to invest £400 million in electric charging points infrastructure, signifying the shift in consumer demand to electric driving. Jérôme Faissat, Commercial Director of Andersen, states: 'We identified the potential growth in the electric car market. And immediately felt that the actual charge points themselves needed to work better in the context of their surround-ings. So, we started a list of what we really wanted from a home charge point and it ended up being quite simple. It had to look discreet, be safe and robust and a pleasure to use.' David Simpson, Technical Director at Andersen, states: 'E mobility is the future, and a home charge point is the one electrical item that will soon become commonplace. It's taken us two years to develop the A1 to do everything a charge point should do but we're confident that it works on a completely different level terms of practicality and finish.' The A1 has been certified for all European countries and has received a UK grant approval by OLEV and OLEV Work Place Charging grants. There is immense opportunity for Andersen. With over 122,000 plug-in cars on the UK roads alone. The Andersen journey (so far...) We began our journey in 2015, when Mandy, Jérôme and David Simpson spotted a glaring gap in the necessary-accessory (a term we now coin as ‘neccessory’) EV market. With charge points for the fast-growing hybrid and e-vehicles market limited - to say the least - we started to think about how we could improve on the offerings already available. Over the 2015 Christmas period, we brainstormed ideas and designs - making good use of the empty boxes from our respective kids’ presents to mock-up what our products could look like! Speaking to ‘house-proud’ friends and family members with electric vehicles made us realise we were in to something... In 2016, we collaborated with award-winning Paul Crofts Studio to design the A1 tethered EV charge point - a distinctive looking 7kW charge point - and the only one to offer intelligent cable management for all electric and hybrid vehicles. Expertly and sympathetically designed to blend in with the exterior walls of country homes through to town houses, our aim was to create something different and something aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
