Claudia’s 5 tips for preparing your skin for autumn/winter

29 November 2016 13:00

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The best part of summer is spending it outside on the beach, at barbecues and in the pool. Unfortunately, soaking up sunshine and chlorine damages our skin and shows in your complexion in the autumn and winter months. For mature skin, the sun leaves behind uneven pigmentation and age spots as well as an increased risk of lines and wrinkles.

If you are frustrated by freckles and age spots or just want to restore moisture to your dehydrated summer skin, Claudia Fallah’s tips for preparing your skin for autumn will restore and nurture your dull or damaged skin in time for the autumnal weather!

Start with the facts

Sun exposure depletes collagen. Collagen is the glue-like substance that supports and connects tissues and is responsible for firmness, elasticity and protections. The sun makes collagen break down, damaging suppleness and promoting early ageing.

Diets help in essential fatty acids (cold water fish such as salmon and flax seed) will repair cells and protect from further damage while diets high in antioxidants (whole grains, veggies, fruits and nuts) will repair and protect your skin. Especially Avocado protects your skin because it contains carotinoide that protects your skin from damaging UV- Rays and results that your skin looks younger, fresher and healthy.

Re-evaluate your sun cream strategy

Sun cream should be worn year-round. Conventional sun creams only protect against surface, sun-burning UVB light and if your skin is sensitive, they will HATE the ingredients in these products.

Claudia tip:

We have designed our daily protection moisturiser which is very light and none greasy, moisturising and improves a natural glow. This product is high in environmental protection against UVA & UVB.

Especially if you suffer from hypersensitive skin or rosacea, it's a great product to use since we use natural sun blockers and NO nano minerals or ingredients that can mimic you oestrogen and result higher levels in your system.

Smooth skin requires exfoliation

If your skin is dull and rough from a summer of outdoor activities even the most advanced moisturiser will not help because your skin’s surface is covered in dry, dead skin cells.

Claudia tip:

I always recommend to exfoliate once a week because you don't want to over scrub your skin and cause your ph-level to become more acidic, which can cause more skin reactions or breakouts. Especially if you have very sensitive skin or rosacea, you have to take extra care not to over do your beauty regime. Therefore our Gentle Exfoliant Creme has been designed with skin irritations in mind so you can still exfoliate but not cause more irritation to your skin. We have chosen very fine rice particles (NO microbeads or nuts) to gently exfoliate where even with the most sensitive skin you can apply the product to exfoliate straight onto your skin.

Treat acne correctly

A common myth is that the sun clears up acne, but in many cases the opposite is true if you spend too much time in the sun.

Claudia tip:

Sun tanning does not necessarily get rid of acne. There can be a mild anti-inflammatory effect on the skin with sun exposure and it may temporarily improve your acne but UV rays are major contributors to skin cancer and premature ageing. So please use a light non greasy sun protection since you don't want to clog up your pores and cause more breakouts. I very much recommend our Ultra Pro-tech which has been designed for skin problem in mind.

Replenish your skin for the winter months

Start by adding some key products that replenish moisture. By addressing damaged or undernourished skin now, you’ll prepare your skin for the cold weather around the corner.

Claudia tip

This is the time of the year where you should introduce your skin to a repair serum which you can apply under your moisturiser especially at night.

Stay hydrated

Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to keep your skin moisturised and eliminate toxins.

Claudia tip:

This is the cheapest way to maintain your skins health. Hydrate! It does make a huge difference to your skin appearance and texture. If you are dehydrated internally that will also reflect lines and wrinkle's will show up more when you are dehydrated. If you don't like drinking water try Coconut water instead.
