Central Tickets awarded “Start-Up Business of the Year 2018”
For the London Area by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)
From a selection of six nominees, Central Tickets named Start-Up Business of the Year for London area and hopes to serve as an example to other would be entrepreneurs of what can be achieved on a shoe-string budget by making use of mentoring schemes and joining professional membership bodies.
Central Tickets has been awarded “Start Up Business of the Year 2018” for the London Area yesterday (Mon 19th March 2018) by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) at the Radisson Blu Edward Hotel in Portman Square, London.
Central Tickets sells theatre tickets and provides audience intelligence data to event organisers in London and the Home Counties in return for discounted ticket offers. Partners Lee McIntosh & Hartmut Wuebbeler began with a start-up budget of £7K after seeing an ad for business support and mentoring in Haringey Library, Crouch End. They later took a five year start-up loan for £10K that they were able to repay in 4 months.
They have since created a business that has generated in excess of £180K of West End Theatre ticket sales in the last seven months by forming an affiliate partnership with the largest ticketing company in the UK and recruiting an enthusiastic audience of theatre-goers.
Their business was founded on the principles of doing good work, treating people well and delivering value to our clients and members. By staying true to those values, they have been able to create a business that has booked over 30,000 tickets, for over 400 different productions in their first year of trading.
“We incredibly grateful and humbled to have been given this award we couldn’t have done without the support of Enterprise for London & the FSB.”
“London is a great city with a wealth of resources for those looking to create their own business. Our success is a testament to that”
Lee McIntosh, Partner
“This award is as much for our members and clients as it is for us. We’re so thankful that so many people have positively embraced what we do.”
Hartmut Wuebbeler, Partner
