East London Radio

Celebrating 5 years as East London’s Online Community Talk Radio station

14 May 2018 18:29

UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL 14 May 2018 07:45

East London Radio are joining other stations across the UK to Celebrate Local Radio Day 2018.

At the end of May, East London Radio(ELR) will be celebrating its fifth birthday, with special radio programmes, featuring some of the best conversations they’ve had since the community led organisation began in 2013.

They’ll be inviting their growing audience of local listeners to pledge money to the social enterprise, to help its future, in exchange for mentions and music requests. There will be discussions about local radio in celebration of the annual Local Radio Day across the UK.

Over 48 hours from Thursday 24th May to Saturday 26th May, listeners can hear some of the best local radio made by the hundreds of local volunteers who have made unique radio shows for East London during the social enterprises first five years.

Local individuals and businesses from our community are invited to make donations towards the continuing work of the social enterprise. During live shows, ELR can give you a mention, play your chosen music and promote your business.

They have promoted many local businesses over the years and are happy to invite businesses in for a live chat on air during this special event.

Friday 25th May is Local Radio Day, when dozens of local radio stations across the country will be promoting the benefits of their local media, and discussion on ELR will have an emphasis on radio. The day will include an exclusive chat with well known local radio DJ Graham Dene, during a show hosted by Paul Robinson, ELR
Chair and former Managing Editor of BBC Radio 1 and 2, and Head of Strategy in BBC Network Radio.

“What you’re doing in Community Radio is great! so all power to ELR. Local Radio is so important” – Graham Dene, radio personality and former Capital breakfast show presenter. Ian Chambers, Managing Director of ELR is encouraging East Londoners to get involved – “We’d love to hear from any of the thousands of listeners and social media followers who have supported us since 2013, by celebrating this first exciting phase of ELR and help us continue and grow for the benefit of all East Londoners.”
