FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Altum Designs, a leading producer of multi-tools for bicycles is calling on drivers to leave their motors at home and get on their bike instead, following World Car Free Day, which was held on Saturday September 22.
The campaign has been going nationally in the UK for more than 20 years, with the first event of its kind being held in Bath in 1996.
The campaign aims to promote the improvement of travel by public transport and bike in a bid to reduce pollution and congestion. Equally, of course, it’s well known that many shorter trips in large towns and cities can often be made more easily, cheaply and quickly by two wheels than four.
To mark the day events occurred nationwide, and in London almost 50 streets across the city were closed on World Car Free Day in an attempt to enhance air quality.
Director of Altum Designs, Daniel Varney, said: “We’re urging people who normally use their car to think again. Why not try cycling or jumping on a bus or train, just for one day? For shorter journeys and local errands, you may well find it quicker than driving, and feel encouraged to use the car less often.”
