Founded in June 1985, Bigjigs Toys is a family operated business which has never lost sight of its roots. Our mission is to deliver quality, safe and affordable products, which are responsibly sourced and complement childhood through fun, exploration and learning. We believe that the best toys are powered by creativity and imaginative play and strive to produce toys that are cherished and enjoyed for years to come.
Bigjigs Toys Ltd was established in 1985 by Peter and Liz Ireland, both teachers in their previous careers. They decided to develop a company that would make learning fun with the use of traditional wooden toys.
At the very beginning Peter and Liz could be found working in their garden shed, cutting out pieces of wooden jigsaw puzzles by hand. They would sell the jigsaw puzzles at local craft fairs and agricultural shows, travelling far and wide to find their customers.
Since then, Peter and Liz’s two sons have also joined the family business and helped extend the Bigjigs family to a team of dedicated staff who are passionate about educational and fun toys.
Our current range of toys extends to over 2000 high quality products, including the popular Bigjigs Rail collection, dolls, outdoor toys, role play items and of course, wooden jigsaw puzzles! Today we supply independent toy shops in over 40 countries throughout Europe, Australasia, South Africa and the USA.
