Ben Towers takes on new role with Young Start-up Talent

Young Start-up Talent (YST) are excited to announce that Ben Towers, who has recently been named by Richard Branson as “one of the UK’s most exciting entrepreneurs”, has proudly come on board as the initiatives newest non-executive director.

Having met in January of 2015, the New Year will mark a year-long collaboration between YST and the award winning entrepreneur who is set to make an even bigger impact on the initiative with this new role. His inspirational story is a shining example of a young talent whose passion led him to create his own career without following the conventional steps into further education.

Young Start-up Talent were contacted by Ben earlier this year, who was eager to become involved in an initiative that helps inspire and support young entrepreneurs across the South East. Ben said “Young people are constantly being put under more pressure by others to academically achieve; this is not for everyone. Having the chance to run your own business and be in control of your own destiny is an amazing feeling”.

Ben, began his business at age 11 with his digital media agency – Towers Design, where he now employs 15 members of staff and caters for over 700 clients. He has recently launched his newest business in the form of social media management company – Social Marley and is unlikely to be stopping there. Having had first-hand experience of the obstacles that come with being a young entrepreneur as well as what it takes to maintain a successful business, Ben could not fit more perfectly into the role. He established “What I really enjoy is helping and seeing other people my age succeed. It’s very rewarding.”

Ben began his time with YST as a keynote speaker at some of the showcase events, where he inspired not only the young people in the audience but an array of business men and woman. Following on from this, Ben became a judge for our Croydon, East Kent and Brighton regions and has taken a front seat in supporting the young entrepreneurs who go through the process.

Ben, who was recently placed as number one on The Times - Super Teen Power List, has said “The best thing about the process is seeing ideas transform into a business. You often get people who are sceptical about their idea and think ‘I don’t know if I can do this’, but Young Start-up Talent are there to encourage and push these ideas forward into success.”

Co-founder of the initiative, Lorraine Nugent said “We have really enjoyed working with Ben over the past year and seeing him become more and more involved with the initiative. His roaring success is an incredible inspiration to the young entrepreneurs who enter and we’re excited to be working more closely with him in the future.”
