A local supply network proves popular among customers for east London shop Venner
East London-based shop Venner is proving a hit among customers, thanks to their array of locally-sourced products.
According to directors Tiff Howick and Lucie Beeston around 50% of the suppliers for their shop, located in Francis Road in Leyton, are based in London.
Tiff said: “Our customers like that we know our suppliers, that we are knowledgeable about our products and that most of our suppliers are either based in London or are close by. We know where the products are made, who makes them and that they have an ethical supply chain.”
The business offers a carefully curated selection of beautifully designed and well made products. The shop aims to provide a sensory experience, something that Tiff and Lucie believe you can’t get online and is difficult to create in larger shopping centres.
Lucie added: “When people first come in they will comment on the lovely smell in the shop and how beautiful it looks.”
The pair also feel the mood among consumers is now changing, and that there is an increasing enthusiasm for supporting local business. They feel that people also understand that by supporting small businesses and an environment that encourages more small businesses to start up will mean there is a more interesting high street offering.
Tiff said: “Last Christmas a lot of our customers were determined to do as much of their Christmas shopping on Francis Road as possible. We’re close to an independent bookshop, a florist, a wine shop and deli and all of us stock products from local businesses.”
