What a year it’s been at Jigsaw Medical!
Unrivalled growth, new contracts nationwide, exciting event coverage, laughs, tears, and everything that comes along with being part of one of the UK’s leading and most innovative medical, clinical, and education companies.
2016 has been a been a particularly exciting year for our clinical division, as Jigsaw saw the expansion of its frontline services to additional parts of SCAS resulting in the appointment of a brand new Area Operations Manager to cover the brand new operational base in Basingstoke bringing our locations to 7 around the country!
The events team had another prosperous year with numerous high-profile events around the country, and 2016 also saw #TeamJigsaw become a major sponsor of the fantastic Virgin STRIVE Challenge.
In 2014, Jigsaw provided the ambulances, medical staff, and equipment, whilst a 10-strong team hiked, ran, rowed, cycled climbed from London to the summit of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. The 2016 challenge picked up where the 2014 challenge ended and saw the core team of 25 (as well as several others) tackle a punishing 30-day journey from the base of the Matterhorn to Mount Etna in Sicily.
And the amazing individuals taking part completed it all whilst being looked after by Jigsaw’s amazing team of medics, physios, and doctors! Additionally, #TeamJigsaw’s very own Compliance Manager, Jan Pomfret completed the first cycle stage of the challenge. Jan cycled 750km (460 miles) up to an elevation of 7,740m. And according to the statistics, Jan was hailed as Queen of the mountains after proving her mettle on the torturous climbs!!
The STRIVE involvement for 2016 culminated in Sam Branson and Noah Devereux visiting the new Jigsaw offices and giving a fantastic talk about the STRIVE and the charity Big Change.
2016 also saw the creation of the Jigsaw Medical FlexDesk! FlexDesk is a single point of access for ad-hoc or off-tender transport requirements for NHS Hospitals, CCG’s, GP’s and private healthcare institutions. We aim to provide a high-quality, customer-focused service which is entirely flexible and adaptable to your individual transport requirements.
Jigsaw has a team of standby crews, from routine patient transport crews, to specialist, dedicated transport teams and Paramedic-led high dependency units. This means we are able to respond quickly and appropriately, depending upon the patient’s clinical requirements.
Emergency Services Show 2016
In 2016 Jigsaw was also delighted to have showcased the company, for the first time, at the incredible Emergency Services Show with one of the largest stands at the show!
It was an incredible 2 days meeting new faces (and some old ones) that lead to many new people signing up to work or train with Jigsaw Medical across all of our divisions. Our Special Projects Defender was even picked as one of the 'coolest' emergency vehicles at the show!
New Head Office
As a result of the expansion of #TeamJigsaw's services, Jigsaw Medical was delighted to announce that they relocated their head office to Ellesmere Port near the Cheshire Oaks Shopping Centre, from Portal Business Park in Tarporley, which remains a Jigsaw building for further ventures.
All of the teams that were located at Jigsaw House in Tarporley made the move to Ellesmere Port, however, given the extra capacity, we were able to position teams much more strategically within the different areas of the building, improving internal communication and therefore external efficiency.
The increased size and investment also means that essential office facilities and services have been able to be introduced that weren’t possible in Tarporley, such as an increased number of meeting rooms, a proper reception area, and a proper kitchen and dining area as well as other features.
As well as the Head Office teams #TeamJigsaw is also delighted to confirm that the Education and Training team will make the move from their training centre on Sealand Road in Chester to a brand new Training Academy in Ellesmere Port in early 2017, resulting in all aspects of the business being able to work harmoniously in the new facility.
New courses, new premises, and a new Director of Education and Training meant that the Education and Training team had an especially exciting 2016.
Amongst other courses such as a new Blue Light course and PHTLS course, the Emergency Services Show saw the launch of our brand new AAP course that will have its first intake in January 2017!paul-jones-jigsaw
Additionally, Paul Jones joined the team in October and brings with him a whole host of skills and expertise that will facilitate new courses within the training division (for both internal and commercial use).
Paul has a particularly impressive CV; including as an NHS Paramedic Tutor, Programme Lead for a higher education Paramedic course, as well as authoring a number of publications and sitting on the Research & Development Committee at the College of Paramedics.
And finally, as well as Paul above, 2016 saw a record number people of join #TeamJigsaw, of which there are too many to name individually, but as the boss, Chris Percival said back in 2014:
"It's teamwork and and the amazing people that have got us here, they determine our success and deserve every bit we achieve."
